I think that is what it was supposed to be. One of Henry's minions - dude with an eyepatch - was sent out to find a "distraction" for the king, so he ventured out to this sketchy place and met with a woman who could only be described as a Madame. It was all very strange.

I found it... well, a bit more than rushed. James Frain did a mighty fine job portraying a mighty bad character.

As for Mary... I like how they developed her bitchiness. I don't know how they'll establish her hatred of Elizabeth though...

I can't wait until next season :D

Oh, I thought it was way too rushed as well. 8 episodes does not a season make. Plus, I would not have complained about more JF had they chosen to flesh out the story of his downfall a bit more.

I think it will be easier to establish the Mary/Elizabeth rivallry once the latter gets a bit older.
