Just watched the Abbott and Costello "Who's on first?" routine on WPIX (also known as CW11). So I think today's gonna be a good day.

They're showing "classic" TV as part of their 60th anniversary celebration. That's pretty cool, I think. Hell, I think WPIX is pretty cool ( Read more... )

This is the version I remember as a kid. Lord knows how old this is.

"Chased by villains, chased by rocks.
Fighting bad guys, in old, runaway trucks.
Fought a swordsman, w/o a sword!
Cause he's Indy, he's Indy,
::garbled::" (As in, I could *never* make out what that line was, which bothered me, cause it was *the last line*. It *had* to be something awesome!)

Actually, it's:

Chased by natives
Chased by ROCKS!
Chased by bad guys
In a runaway truck
Wins a sword fight
Without a sword
Because he's Indy
It's Raiders
On Tuesday at 8!

(Trust me, we worked this out in high school.)

I didn't grow up with WPIX, but I know where you're coming from...there are a lot of old Winnipeg local station clips on YouTube as well, for which I'm grateful. There are still clips from my childhood that I miss, though; MTN, a local station which eventually got bought out, used to make their own commercials for shows like TNG, and I really wish those would be posted.

(On the flip side, I'm pretty okay with clips like my childhood Sesame Street appearance not showing up on YouTube...)

I'm sorry the Raiders commercial isn't online, but if there are YouTube users specialising in WPIX clips, you could always ask them directly. You never know--they might have it to post, but not realise there's a demand.
