Finally Red Dragon is coming out in bloody london next friday, I am interested only on the basis that Edward Norton is in it. Shitty director though, rich hollywood piece of rich scum. I am figuring that he will leach of Dante Spinotti, not too bad of a cinematographer but another Hollywood money maker, he knows how to give basic drama. The last ( Read more... )

Hey, what's wrong with women actors? Jodie Foster's performance made Silence of the Lambs so good. If it wasn't for her, it would have been just another suspense thriller, but she made Clarisse a real person that you cared about. Sure, everyone did the impressions of Hannibal, but Jodi Foster's subtle performance is what made that movie so special, hence why the others just can't measure up. You have the same Lecter, but the FBI agent just isn't the same. That's because Jodie Foster rules, proving that there is nothing wrong with women actors, just the way that the directors choose to use them. Sorry if this is incoherent, but I had to stop in the middle to do work.

Went & saw Red Dragon a few nights ago - it actually rocked pretty much. I suspect that if you get Anthony Hopkins, Edward Norton, and Ralph Fiennes in your cast, and a well-written classic thriller which hasn't been re-written but instead adapted by the scriptwriters, there's not a great deal of direction to do, just "Stick to the book". This time they actually did stick to the book, give or take the odd teency bit, and it was far better for it. Hannibal sucked because they couldn't face the ending as Thomas Harris wrote it. I was rather angry after watching Hannibal up till the end scene & finding they'd chickened out & messed with it.
