I had to go way back to find your last Sherlock-related post, but I had to show you this analysis of how Sherlock Holmes (or rather, the fans) created fanfic which led ultimately to the existence of Fifty Shades of Grey.

That's pretty good (though yikes, I recognize some of the Sherlock artwork they're using).

Yep, I recognize some of it too! It amuses me that they don't verbally address the whole m/m slash aspect of Sherlock fanfic (though they note that 50 Shades is Bella/Edward), but the art they show is pretty explicit! When the US Public Broadcasting Service includes slash in anything with its imprimatur - not to mention the scads of fanservice written into multiple tv shows - slash is getting very close to mainstream. An interesting time to be alive (as always, I'd imagine).
