Holy crap. Haiti.

Supporting these guys - Médecins Sans Frontières. They're awesome. We have a regular monthly donation to them, and they don't stream money into huge press/pr/promo/fundraising blackholes that a lot of other charities do.

Are they like "Doctors Without Borders"? It's good that they don't wast the money. Every penny counts.

I donated to the Red Cross yesterday. I figure they know what they are doing. I hope.

LOL - they ARE Doctors (Médecins) without (sans) Borders (Frontières)! MSF is their actual name as they originated from France. I'm being my AR self :-)

There're a lot of aid agencies glavanised for action but there's a bottleneck in terms of access! Worse still, up north the airports have been closed due to ice/snow and so a bunch of UK fireman who were trying to go over to Haiti to help - couldn't!

LOL. Duh! How obtuse am I?! I should have figured, especially considering I know their logo and it was definitely on the website you linked. :)

The situation is beyond awful there. The aid is ready, but hard to deliver and distribute. Sigh. I've been following this guy lately, he is Twitting from Haiti. Went there on aid mission. He just got there, and it's a bit like hearing first-hand accounts.

*g* Don't worry. I'm so unobservant sometimes and would have done the same thing!

It really has been horrible. I was reading the newspaper on the weekend and I can't imagine being there and living through it. And how some of the aid agencies who were based in Haiti have suffered losses but are still trying to help, as much as they can do given the lack of resources, building, vital supplies!

It's been interesting that telecomms technology these days means that people on the ground can get the word out asap and highlight the problems straight away.
