I don't have anything to add here, but this is SUCH a brilliant reading, oMG.
The mastermind and I have similar interests.
Despite the flaws in season 2, this is why Hound is probably still my favorite episode--because it's not about Sherlock.
Huh! This is interesting. Relatedly, I loved that brief bit in the Irene Adler episode where it seems like Moriarty's really focussed on Mycroft's spy network as an opponent, and Sherlock's just been a pawn to manipulate in the interests of secret world politics. That's what made Reichenbach more believable to me, too - the idea that Mycroft might have thrown Sherlock under the bus for the sake of his work.
