I was very satisfied with the Battlestar Galatica finale last night.  I don't feel like getting into spoilers, but I did get a little teary at one point! And I was pleased by the focus on characters and an actual denouement.  I love denouement!  One of my favorite things about Farscape was how the climactic event would take place before the final ( Read more... )

Not interested in Caprica. It might even have had a place in the show's mythology when it was first conceived, but the final season made it entirely superfluous.

I wasn't interested in Caprica - despite the talent behind it - until very recently. But having just watched the finale, and read your comment... I don't know. You're totally right, and I don't think I could ever watch the show without that thought in the back of my head. Great. :P

Little teary? My God, that doesn't begin to cover how I was feeling. I'm such a girl.

It's been in the works for so long, they didn't even know what they were doing back then. But "No Exit" came along and answered everything, leaving us with only one question that Caprica could address: "Why were the Centurions monotheistic?" which Caprica will probably answer with "Because their creators were secretly monotheistic." Badumbum.

It's terrible when the writers retcon their own spin-offs into obsolescence! ;)

I'll give it the pilot a shot, and go from there. It won't be Galactica, but as long as it's not as soap-opera like as the "sneak peak" suggested, I'll give it a fair shake (have been watching Dollhouse for over a month now, and trying not to get annoyed at how slow it seems at time). I think the frame of mind you have to watch it with is "sure, these people are marching towards doom, but what motivated them to find themselves in this position in the first place?". The hints so far is that the "colonial cylons" might initially have been an attempt at bioengineering human resurrection, which would make discovering why the research took the turn of creating the centurions (or their progenitors) interesting.
