You know, I'd just been thinking of posting and asking the magical friends list if I should try to pick up something in this series (though I'm sure the answer would be YES), and if so what? Hmm... would this be a good starting point for someone who's unfamiliar with the series? Because if so, y'know...
Definitely! It's probably one of the more accessible MegaTen games, actually, along with Digital Devil Saga (which has an almost Final Fantasy style skill system). But yeah, totally pick it up, it's so worth it. It's like two games for the price of less than one!
(Speaking of DDS, I cheaply acquired a couple of copies of DDS1 to be loaner copies, so if you wanted to play that too, you can have a chance, since it's pretty rare. But you'd have to get on the waiting list, there's already a couple of #fretters interested :o )
Sounds good... though man, when was the last time I did any gaming that wasn't on a handheld? I think we beat Suikoden V, then haven't touched a regular console except my parents/brother's Wii (every time we're over there - and always just Wii Sports, I'm kind of addicted) since well before Christmas.
(...I'd be baffled that you'd go as far as buying extra copies of games to loan out, except that it's you. ;) And I am reminded that I really should start hanging out on #fret again, except that every time I think about it, it's like... this time of day, when #fret traditionally was pretty dead.)
Don't I know it. I have this stack of RPGs I want to play, but I just keep playing Picross or Professor Layton on the DS. *headsmack* And Brawl comes out in less than two weeks...
(and hey, how could I resist buying copies of a rare game from a video store closing sale for only 15 bucks? Even if I didn't want to loan them out, I could always eBay 'em. ;) But I prefer to be a MegaTen evangelist instead of a scalper. )
And you should totally come back! We miss you! Sure, it is pretty dead right now, but getting back in the habit of hanging out is a good step. :D Any time is better than no time!
