Glad to see you beat the storm home. I recommend rolling in the saris, it makes them seem like they are yours ;P Every time I come back I end up with piles of silk on the guest bed. It generally takes me a month to actually get everything folded and put away.
What I end up missing first about India is the laundry walla, or more specifically the ironing walla. I come home with all these great cotton suit sets that looked so great on me in India. When I get home and wash them, I realize this is in part because they were all perfectly pressed. And then there are all the cotton saris.....
What I miss most right now is the weather! It's snowed at least twice since I've been back. Most specifically, I hate that I can't indulge my own quirkiness and wear my cool Indian duds, because I would freeze my knickers off, even inside!

What a wonderful time you had. So many experiences that most tourists never have the privilege. So many people here enjoyed your journal and vacation right along with you. Prabha says that your sari shopping is right on the money. As late as Wednesday, another Tatara engineer checked your journal (he is from Bangalore). Asks if you know who John Higgins is... An American who became proficient in kanake after a 12 year stay in the area and went on to be a classical musician.
Meanwhile, glad to hear you are home safe and mostly sound. After a few days rest you will be as good as new! (mabe another steak will help :-) )
I have about 10 saris that I washed last summer so I could line dry them and still haven't ironed, plus I have about 100 bandhini scarves to iron. Perhaps we should all bring our ironing boards someplace and set up a big TV with lots of rented movies and have Ironing Day!
