The protection of Islam appears to be out of the need to gain support to attempt to control the Middle East's natural resources. Christianity, in my observation, is looked down upon for two basic reasons in our society:

1. Christianity is viewed as the next best thing to fascism because of its close advertising by people like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, and just about every other Republican out there.

2. Because the basics of Jesus's teachings revolve around the fact that we are not perfect and we are all in need of redemption. I've noticed most people don't like to think that the way they're living could be conceived as unacceptable so they play the blame game instead of taking responsibility for their lives.
