Amazingly tender and evocative. I'm speechless because what can one say about writing like this, unless it is that it's so good it makes you love the characters all the more and desperately want for them to get their happy ending. (I'm also in love with what you do with hyphens; all the pauses and the things that they say without saying them.)

Then, sudden and yet somehow not startling in the least, Holmes’s lips were touching his skin...

This whole paragraph is... wow. My favourite part of the story.
