I needed the Daily Show to get through this

Are we getting universal heathcare?
No, Congress is getting care for Terri.

Senior Ethicist Stephen Colbert: Like all Republicans, this congress and White House believe the government should get MORE involved in lives of individuals. Tired of the Washington gridlock, of getting nothing done for everyone, instead, they will get one thing done for someone.

Jon Stwart: If you extrapolate this in a country this size, how can they solve everyone's problems on a case by case basis?

Senior Ethicist Stephen Colbert: You have 435 members of Congress and 100 senators. You get in a van and drive around helping everyone. It'll be just like Queer Eye, only they'll hate gay people. If Bob Garber in Ohio needs a kidney, then by the Bob Garber Kidney Act of 2005, he'll get one.

Jon Stewart: All this strengthing of federal power seems to go against Republican fundamentals...

Senior Ethicist Stephen Colbert: It's true they used to argue for state's rights, but that's when they DIDN'T control the federal government.

colbert, rant, daily show
