As promised/threatened, I've actually started sorting out stuff for an expansion of my cutesy-style drawing of the Doctor, Jamie and the Yeti and have scanned some of it to share! There are actually two pieces that made it entirely to the watercolor stage before I decided that I just don't like them and am redoing them, so there's a Jamie here who has been orphaned because his Doctor drawing came out badly and a drawing that I devoted at least several hours to and have now abandoned that I'm too embarrassed even to post but is on the back of the sketch page here and is tinting everything with little blue blobs. Just so you know how completely stupidly into this I am, I guess.
Here is the original, which I think will actually be the last page or the 'cover' of this ridiculous story. I say 'story' very loosely here, as I don't have it all completely written out and it's all pretty fragmentary at the moment. But I do have a basic idea of some layouts and doodles I'll be needing, so that's sort of what we've got here.
First, a sketch dump!
Differing styles and looks and what not because not all of them are really aiming toward the same 'part of this silly kids' book project' goal. As it turns out, most of those are actually not planned on being in a final anything, ha ha. Except the kind of vertical one in the center where their arms were really shortened in the original just so I'd be able to fit the idea in the book and so I've cheaply shopped them into a more reasonable distance from each other, losing a lot of Jamie's arm in the process. That's going in later. Not this exact drawing, but... yeah, whatever, you get it. Have some actually colored shit:
Jamie finds the recorder! Yay! This is the one that's missing the accompanying Doctor image. Luckily, they were supposed to be separate little spot things, so nothing is ruined, but it's weird for me in visualizing the whole thing to only have this here. STILL, I thought I'd share. The girlfriend liked him, so here he is.
And this, which is almost definitely getting used:
This one just kind of makes me go 'Aww'. So I think it's a keeper.
TA DA. Status reports as the work warrants them, I guess. I really, really love doing these. I don't know what's wrong with me. You would have had to drag me kicking and screaming to watercolor in my sketchbook on a regular basis a year ago.
