FIC: Tricks and Treats

Okay, so I caved. :-)

Here is my little entry for the hpgw_otp  Halloween Challenge. The challenge was to write a H/G piece that began with: It was a dark and stormy night, and was anywhere between 500-2000 words. Oh yes, it also needed to take place after the war but before they were married.

So here we go. This is a little different for me, but I enjoyed it ( Read more... )

Oh, it's nice to read H/G again! And your writing! I hate that H/G were stupid enough to break up, but I'm glad you Hermione got them back together again. You did a great job evoking a cold, rainy night and the misery of being soaking wet. I also liked all the touches with the seasonal butterbeer flavors and other party necessities. :)

LOL - a night of treats indeed. Great ending.

Harry and Ginny breaking up is definitely not my normal cup of tea, but I really wanted to write a reunion-type thing, and for it to be light, and from Harry's pov and this just sort of popped out.

I'm positive it needs fine-tuning, but sometimes it's also good to just let go and post. :-)

Thank you for your lovely compliments. They mean the world to me (as always!). It felt good to write them again, even if it wasn't as planned and plotted as normal. It think the exercise did me good. :-)

Now I'm off to get my little trick-or-treaters to bed...they had such a fun night.

*HUGS YOU*

This was well written. I think it would have been a little tough to wrap up that story in a small amount of space, but you did it.

I'm actually really surprised that I was able to wrap it up so quickly, too! :-) I really wanted to write a light piece so I think that likely helped with the resolution as well.

I'm so glad that you liked it! :-)

Very nice. I'm of two different minds about H/G breaking up like this. First, how stupid can they be? A relationship is something you have to work at, and even if the schedules are hard to manage, the other person is worth it. But secondarily, perhaps they needed to realize just how much they need each other.

I'm glad you chose the second one, although I think in my heart of hearts, I always believe in the first.

Do we get a sequel to see Ginny's vengeance?

To be quite honest with you I don't think Harry and Ginny would break up either. They would work it through just as you said, but I really wanted to write a reunion story that wasn't just after the war--and so I had no choice but to do this, if just for a moment. It really was just a writing exercise for me--and one that I quite enjoyed. :-)

I hadn't planned on a sequel...but it might be fun to explore it. I will definitely give it some thought and see if I come up with something good. :-)

Well, I have to say that I really enjoyed it too. I imagine that to improve my own writing, I should try more of that type of exercise--like adding some angst, or writing different pairings. A little scary though.

Yes, Ron and Hermione better keep their wits about them if they know what's best for them!

Oh, this just cries out for at least two more chapters. Maybe the interlude (to get poor Harry out of his soaked clothes so he won't catch his death) and the party revenge.

It's always fun to read about Harry and Ginny getting back together.

Really, you think? Of course I know you would like the interlude. *winks* I will have to consider your suggestion though, it could be quite fun to write.

I'm so glad that you liked it. *HUGS*
