I would be a baker's wife in early modern Holland. Totally. Bakers had an awesomely powerful guild everywhere in Europe (I mean, hellooooo. Bread = most essential thing ever in society, seeing's how everyone ate ~1 kilo of it per day, or some such huge number. It wasn't just the staple, it was pretty much ALL THEY ATE.) and so I'd ensure I'd never go hungry (I almost said butcher's wife, but like heck I'm marrying a butcher with all that smelly meat around!) And bakers were powerful enough in society that I'd probably have enough money to buy essentials and maybe some luxury items (like, say, more than one chair), but low enough that I wouldn't have to deal with the horrors of arranged marriages, and have my pick of hawt baker journeymen for my husband. Plus, I have a total crush on Holland right now. Liek OMG go Delft! ~teehee!~
