interesting. i bet most women have that internal dialogue when they talk to someone attractive. and why not? it's nice to be valued (although probably nicer when that value doesn't matter).

May I add a wee bit to that of my own thoughts, that run along surprisingly similar lines? I've found that I enjoy going to the grocery store in sweats and braids. I'm not there to be picked up, to be gawked at by the fallas, or to win a She's So Sexay contest. There is something incredibly freeing, for me, in not worrying about my physical appearance- I'm clean, but not all dolled up. I'm round, I'm comfy, and I love it. :)

The woman I work for is a single mom, and is very, very single. She works very hard at looking hawt. I feel very, very smug about not working at looking, very, very hawt. Hehehe.

Poetry... that, though, is something I'd love to do. Have a writing or a reading group of any kind regularly. I would love to have a creative group.

That isn't to say I don't get a little thrill and a little grin when I know someone is checkin' me out though... ;)

"...freedom to engage with a man without it also being a test of my sexual worth."

Now that is a nice thought.
