I'm enjoying it more than Wicked, but I can't say if it's better. It's been four years since I read it and my impression has been blurred by the two sequels (of which, Son of a Witch is closer to my heart than any of the Oz books.)

I think Wicked may have been stronger technically but it is much harsher in tone and bizarre and way more political, whereas Confessions is lush and is more of a slow, juicy character study.

I've got only a few more pages until the end. I hope it satisfies...
