Just based on my 16 years with one guy... He will argue the manly nature bit, but he believes that part of marriage- on the man's side- is working to uphold the promises a fellow makes to his spouse. Monogamy may not be hard wired in human men, but that is what makes a lasting marriage special- the willingness to work through those urges and not give into the desire for newness or 'spreading his seed'.
