This show gets so much better in Season 4 it's stunning. Given that it coincided with the end of Breaking Bad, I can't help but wonder if they poached some of the old staff from their fellow AMC show.
INORITE? This show was so bad that I regularly skipped through episodes in the first season, whole swaths of episodes in the second season, and only hate!watched it with friends in the third.
But the in the fourth: randomly good. From wallowing in the lower end of mediocrity to good straight out of nowhere. There's pacing, dialogue that isn't hammy, believable character development that isn't "woe is Rick" and "ain't the guv'nuh a bad dude" and "lol Lori and Andrea are always wrong about everything". I can only assume they poached some of the Breaking Bad staff, I really can.
Holy crap, you are not wrong about season four. I just finished episode six, and yeah, holy crap. Yeah, this is going to make a very different writeup when I get done with it.
I think the biggest piece of evidence that they poached Breaking Bad folk is that they actually made me care about one of their bad guys. Damn.
