Okay, now we're cooking. I finally went out and got some icons so I could use them appropriately when I rec fandom stories. Still need some for Star Trek, and Sentinel, and MFU, and...sheesh, I'll go get those soon

Hey, one LJ question, how do you get the names with the little LJ icon to cut and paste? Whenever I copy it, all that pastes is the name. Wah!!!
if you mean, how to get the small little bald head, or the community icon in front of the user-name, kelly has written a pretty good and easy to understand tutorial about the LJ specific HTML codes here: http://khohen1.livejournal.com/134339.html
Let me ask you something else. I have thanked everyone I've snitched icons from, and I've thanked them again in my comment section when I've downloaded the icon to my journal. But how does that person know I've credited them? How can someone see that when an icon is attached to an entry?
. I also wrote a LJ-reference page here. It has some of the same stuff if the other post you were pointed to, but has some other stuff, too. Feel free to pass it on. .

I'm sending a file to your lj email addy, which is something someone gave me when she set me up on lj last year. It tells how to add user names, community names, lj cuts, change fonts, post images etc. I find having it in a file is very useful, as I leave it open in one window while playing in lj in the other. Then I just cut and paste whatever I want from one to the other, without having to try to memorise it all.
On crediting icons. Go have a look at my user profile. Click on my icons, and you can see how I have credited them. All you need to do is go to Manage Userpics on your profile page, and add the credit beside the relevent icons. Then click update at the bottom of the screen.

It's [lj user="ladyra"] only use carrots (<) and (>) rather than the brackets...
(so if I remember right - ladyra otherwise you need a lj-user but I don't think that's the case...
