Oh boy, today was busy and stressful and productive and (more or less planned) expensive.

First down to the city admin to pay water/sewer/trash bill. This bi-monthly bill is now being paid in person because twice in the last six months they threatened to shut off the water because it took their accounting system over five weeks to process and

Yes, but you have it TO spend. Many woes can be salved by a bit of money to do so. :)

What is tweaking me most is the money we are spending on necessary items - washer and dryer, car repairs and maintenance, etc - rather than on the "fun" stuff - gaming keyboard and mouse, books, music CD's and so forth. Probably because the necessary stuff is pricier than the fun stuff.

Actually, the gaming keyboard might also help with the Intuos. sordak just printed out the users manual for the Intuos so he can reference stuff whilst learning to use it.

Then he gets to do some stuff for "The Roman View". We are considering listing it on Amazon for those who might want to download it to a Kindle.

I hear ya. We had to do similar with our car, $1300 and change, but we had the credit card to do it. Slow paying off but it'll be a good thing in the long run.

But again, at least you have the funds to do so, and not caught in the depths of "HOW do we pay for it?".
