I saw GI Joe on Sunday--silly movie but fun, especially if you know the characters--which made me go dig out my comics last night. I never watched the cartoon but I loved the comics

Doug, my mom & I all went to see GI Joe this weekend. Pretty good movie, but I think a lot of the geekery was lost on me because I only know what Doug's told me about the franchise. We watched that Ballad of GI Joe last night. Pretty funny and amazingly star-studded!
I knew that was Julianne Moore but was surprised until I saw the cast list. Not a "homemade" kind of video with your bored friends. *g*
Yeah, it was a movie for the fans, I think. There were a lot of kids watching it when I went--crying baby and all *rolls eyes*. Some were too young, in my opinion, and I figure they were there because they saw the cartoon or the parents saw the cartoon and none read the comics, which, while not as "for adults" as comics today, were still full of death and violence.
I wasn't thrilled with the movie making Stormshadow a bad guy (and killing him). In the comics he was one of those morally gray characters I love so much.
Yeah, Doug & I talked quite a bit about Stormshadow and his history. I really wanted him to go on so we could see him switch sides. Maybe he has nanomites & survived the fall.
