The clock looks cool! :) But I could see why you wouldn't want to lug it around a con. XD; I look forward to seeing photos of the costume whenever you get some!

Thanks! :-) Yeah, I figured I would get annoyed with it after a while since I already usually feel like I'm lugging around too much stuff at cons! XD;

Heya, do you have any recommendations for shops in the garment district that sells Japanese (or at least Asian) brocade or printed fabric? I have never been there, and I don't want to be ripped off

Hmm… I don’t think I’ve ever seen Japanese patterns in brocade and I rarely see Japanese prints in the fashion district at all. I think the handful of Japanese prints I’ve seen up there have been in the big expensive stores like NY Elegant or B & J. If Chinese brocade is okay, there are a bunch of stores on W. 39th between 7th and 8th Ave that carry it but I don’t have a list of names and I think one of them closed down a while back. (I usually just walk along that block and go into a bunch of stores. ^_^;) I usually pay around $8/yard, which is about comparable to when brocades are on sale at JoAnn’s. But there’s more variety in the fashion district.

If cottons are okay, the best place I’ve found for Japanese print fabrics in the city is actually The City Quilter (133 W. 25th Street), near FIT. They have a section for Asian prints and many seem to run in the $8-$10 a yard range; since it’s a quilting shop, you can buy cuts as small as 1/4 yard.
