More on the accident

Our dead car is still in our drive. I suspect it will remain there for a while, before any work can be done, while the insurance people thrash things out. We might be able to get a courtesy car to take us to the mainland this weekend, but might not.

"Not telling Mum" can be the easiest course!

I hope the insurance thing doesn't turn into a fiasco. I had the same issues when that lady hit my car. Her insurance company wanted me to go to a certain mechanic and it just wasn't feasible, plus my uncle is friends with a mechanic who would do the job right and not overcharge me. So I told them I was going to use this other mechanic, and they hemmed and hawed but they did finally approve the work.

And not telling your mom seems to be a good idea. No sense worrying her about something can't do anything about.

Sorry to hear about the accident, only just got back on-line today, so that's why I haven't commented earlier. Glad no-one was seriously hurt.

I vote with the not telling parents, sometimes it is the easiest course of action. Totally different situation & scale of incident, but we've never told my Mum that Bacchus knocked half a pint of Pimms down the front of my Wedding dress while some of the photos were being done. Thanks to the swift action of the hotel staff providing some wet cloths, I escaped without a mark. But if my Mum knew she would be able to see a stain in every photo and it would be brought up every time he went to pour something or lift a glass...
