Eyes

I had an eye test today, the first for years. I should have had one some time ago, really, but these things are so easy to procrastinate. I've got one fairly short sighted eye and one slightly long-sighted eye, with some astigmatism to boot. My brain has always managed to adapt to this, but in recent years has become rather worse at this. My ( Read more... )

Oh, of course he knew what your problem was *rolls eyes* And then completely ignores that he's just found out what you'd already told him, like it's news to you *sigh*

It's like some doctors who decide what's wrong with you as soon as you walk in, or within a second of you explaining one symptom and then not taking any notice of the other symptoms if they don't fit his/her (to be honest, it's always been his from my experience) first idea!

It struck me as strange, when I first realised that they did distance glasses for long-sighted people, but it is quite a common thing. (I believe it's about helping your eyes not have to work so hard to focus on things in the middle distance, but don't quote me on that, I'm admin, not a dispenser.)

I hadn't realised how relatively easy I have it, just not being able to focus more than a foot in front of my nose. :-)

I hope the optom managed to do something useful for you, even if he couldn't be bothered to listen to the person who knew most about the problem.

I hope you don't get the headaches you fear. Maybe you can phase the glasses in?

For some reason, the behaviour of your eyes immediately made me think of this Dilbert cartoon : http://dilbert.com/strip/1997-02-23

I hope you can get them working together again without too many trade disputes.
