Very fed up today. I've had to miss Walk the Wight for the last 4 years, due to being away in various places, but was able to sign up this year. It's tomorrow, and I REALLY want to do it. But I've hurt my back. I don't know how I've hurt my back. If I knew, it would be less annoying. I've probably damaged a muscle somehow, but the pain came on ( Read more... )

*hugs* Hope it stops hurting soon, even though that won't be in time for the walk *more hugs*

It actually feels quite a lot better now than it did this morning. But I'm not going to do Walk the Wight, whatever happens. We're off to Kefalonia on Friday for a Morris dance tour. If it wasn't for that, I'd be tempted to try Walk the Wight and live with the consequences, but I do need to be fit and well in time for Greece.

Pants! But there will be other years!

I had one like that lifting a spadeful of dirt that was exactly like all the other spadefuls, but somehow completely incapacitating and agonising. Don't risk making it worse!

I'd feel even more annoyed about it had I not done my long coastal path walk 2 weeks ago, but, still, it's Walk the Wight! I want to be part of it! But at least I don't need to feel guilty about missing it, since I pre-paid upon registration, rather than seek sponsorship, so the charity still gets my money whether I take part or not.

Backs are very annoying things: so easily messed up, and so utterly debilitating when they go wrong. Somebody really should see about improving their design one day.

I occasionally get back pain for no apparent reason. I must sometimes lift something in an awkward way and that triggers it, but I can never point to a particular thing I've done.

I hope it mends soon.

Thanks! It does feel a lot better now than it felt this morning, so hopefully it will be better before next weekend, when we're off to Kefalonia for a Morris dance tour. Last time I damaged my back, it was because I'd zip-wired into a tree at a National Trust property, so at least I could point to a clear cause. It's particularly vexing not knowing the reason, since it makes it harder to guess how long it will take to heal.

Oh, what a shame. I know walking is supposed to be good for backs but, yes, 27 miles would probably be asking for trouble.
