I'm am somewhat excessively happy that my 'net is working again (we'll see how long THAT lasts), and so I am putting up the first bit of the next House of El fic.
Also! For anyone reading these, would people object to getting pieces of two storylines set in the same universe at the same time? By which I mean, I'm not finished writing the below fic

Despite this supposedly being a Supes AU, it's really Dinah who's getting me through the early years. I'm enjoying playing with who Clark is now, but I love Dinah SHAMELESSLY and their sibling relationship was what convinced me to write this. So. *cough* Yes, thanks!

Thank so much! *can't contain a squee* I am in love with this fic, it's totally not what I expected but that doesn't matter cause it's to good not to like!
In case you're wondering who this crazy person is, I'm the one requested the fic at dc_appreciation.
Anon.
P.S THANK YOU!!

I'm having a ton of fun writing it, and I'm pleased that you like it because I knew I was going to veer something drastic from the original prompt. Keep your eye out--right now I'm having 'net issues, but eventually there will be a whole lot more of this.
Thank you for the review! Squeeing is always a fun thing to get.

I rather love Kara's fierce and wide definition of "family" and how important it is to her. It suits her.
(Also, this is the first time I figured out why "Sorrel" is her alter-ego's last name. I am an idiot. Is that canon? Because it's perfect!)

That's the core of this Kara's character for me. One of the things that always bothered me in Kara's canon (and I admit that I haven't read much) is that she's a young adult by the time she leaves Krypton and they never really deal with the immense and sudden rift in her life of absolutely everything and everyone she's ever known. This Kara came to Earth with the last of her family to protect, and she is determined to do so--and to protect every person around them who might be called family.

You are not an idiot, and I made it up. I figure that's the Kent's early mangling of her last name, and it's what got put on the papers.
