I found this hilarious (your brain skit, not the drowning - having nearly drowned in a well sans the hot foreign dude, I get that its traumatic, but I suppose the hot foreign dude compensates) :)

Actually, something similar happened to me when I was a small child. We had a pool in our backyard in my childhood home. We were having a pool party, and no one noticed when I slipped under. Except my big sister. Who dove into the pool and managed to rescue me. I don't really remember the details, but I suspect that she was much aided by the fact that she was physically twice my size at that point.
I'll mention, too, that trained lifeguards can have trouble and be pulled down when the person they're trying to help is struggling. When you're drowning and someone comes to help you, you're supposed to go limp and let them do the work. Hard to pull off, though, when your instinct is to fight for your life.
Glad you're both okay now. To say that's a scary situation is a major understatement.
