Uh, getting behind on this. In before new comics Wednesday! Incidentally, it looks like Steph and Cass made it onto the cover of the first Li'l Gotham floppy, hooray!
No, that is a good tl;dr, you should write that meta some day if you have time! :P I feel like I should have something more intelligent to say in response to it, but I haven't really read that much with Tim because my library has more comics from after he stopped being Robin.
Yeah, I read those a while ago because they had Steph in them. I think the thing that annoys me is that when Tim is overreacting or Tim tries to be alpha male at people, even though he is not really that aggressive, or Tim refuses to talk to anyone about his problems, it often seems like the writer thinks this is a reasonable thing for Tim to be doing. Which, maybe that's because Batman does those things all the time, but a) Batman is an adult and b) if you imitate Batman, you will continue to be grumpy and lonely and given the side-eye by everyone you work with, forever.
re: flirting with lotsa ladies!!! and it comes off as really uneven and weird. I am vaguely aware of this. I am waiting for the library to send me Seven Days of Death, but I think I saw something about Cass saving him from basically getting raped by some villainess/antiheroine, and he just kind of makes a joke, like, "that was too much pressure for a first date!"
but tam deserves her own spin-off where she saves the world and possibly makes out with steph.WHY DOES
( ... )
I like to imagine Steph and Dick are somewhere off-panel doing the grabbing-arms-jumping thing and going "Did you see that, he's doing kid things AND DOES NOT EVEN REALIZE IT!" Ahaha, yes! And earlier he was quipping. THEY MUST BE SO PROUD. :D
they're doing a really good job with diversity And they're doing it so casually and early too, which I love: I remember reading an interview with JJ Abrahms, ages ago, in which he said that he agreed that it would be good to have a gay character in Star Trek, but that he needed to take time to think about how he could incorporate one. Whereas Fearless Defenders has just gone "here are some characters! They are not all white, because it would be silly if they were! And here is a new character! She likes girls! Onwards!" :D
I am having the same issues with Tim Drake as you are, right down to the library mostly only having his post-Robin stuff. Woe.
Why did they pick Emma Frost to run the school if they are all vaguely suspicious of her?I haven't read much X-Men beyond Astonishing X-Men
( ... )
Yeah, they're doing it very casually and it is working quite well. I think all the cheeky intro boxes and the banter are helping a lot. It was very cute when Misty was teasing Annabelle about her crush on Valkyrie, and Annabelle was like, "I'm going to push you off the side of Asgard." :P
Tim has a much longer comics run than either Steph or Cass, too, so it's harder for me to figure out what would be the "good" parts of it if I wanted to buy issues.
Oh, thank you for the link, that looks like a cool post!
They're doing quite well at making it feel like a very friendly comic. Even when people are bickering and like "I can't even with you," a lot of it just seems silly and goofy rather than, like, annoyingly cat-fight-y or something.
Yeah, I am more interested in the team-up ones in general. BECAUSE THE BATFAMILY ♥

Yeah, if I ever get round to reading any Robin, I think I'll probably start by looking for issues with Steph, Cass, Babs or Dick and going from there.
You're welcome! It's an excellent series. Tansy Rayner Roberts's blog is usually worth a read!
