Or maybe it's hotmail. Omg if you've spoke in the last two or three weeks I absolutely missed it. My hotmail and/or livejournal are being real fuckheads right now gah.

Actually I think it's time for a new laptop. I've had this one since '08, so it's time to retire, sadly. Any suggestions on buying a new laptop?

okay so apparently the post in question has been deleted. NEVER MIND, I WILL RECREATE IT TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY.

so basically I am pretty anti-apple for reasons that involve my parents being computer engineers, so if you're looking for macs then I am not your girl. but for PCs!

first of all, as far as saving money goes, BUY REFURBISHED. seriously, you can get an effectively new laptop for way cheaper, and still with warranty. caveat: buy refurbished from an established vendor. i'm a big fan of dells, and dell has it's own refurbished market. for other companies, you'll have to do a little more research

second, figure out what qualities are important to you in a computer, for a starting point. here's a little quiz that could possibly be helpful. but things like, portability if you want it to be small/light, graphics card, hard drive, memory, what kind of drives it has (like, if you want it to have hdmi capabilities etc ( ... )

HOLY SMOKES I JUST GOT THIS MESSAGE. Apparently my LJ notifications mysteriously got sent to junk mail for the last like, month. Why, I have no idea. But this one was there too xD

Anyway. THANK YOU!!! I will most definitely be able to use these tips. *hugs*

I'm pretty strictly anti-mac too. Because my dad is a Microsoft guy, always has been, so... chip off the old block and all that. Plus, Steve Jobs was a douche canoe. I mean I realize he's dead and that's sad, but if it weren't for iPods I wouldn't own a single one of his products. Anyway.

Refurbished scares me because I have no idea why someone sent it back, you know? I mean my friend Amanda got a refurbished dell and it runs like a champ, but I'm scared of that route.

Basically I just want my laptop... but not broken. Sadly the updated model of mine is like $800 though. That's way too much. I got this one for $350 on Black Friday, so I'm hoping it will hold out until the end of November when I can get another awesome computer for cheap. It's only like 65 days! AHH!

Yeah, refurbished is def scary, but you get a warranty with it, so if there is anything wrong, then it'll reveal itself within that time. Also, most refurbished laptops are literally like the box was never opened etc, and at least Dell's site tells you which type it is. Def something to consider. Although Black Friday is also an A++ option. :)

FOR PC's, I buy HP, 1TB for hard drive and 8 GB RAM. Can't go wrong with that!
