Whew. I think I'm now up to speed with LJ and I've just finished my emails. I was going to fit in my Elfwoody comments as well, but I don't think I'll have time before my BBC comedies start (Wild West, Bromwell High and Little Britain back-to-back in the one night *hugs ABC imports*). If not this evening, tomorrow! I have late conga lines to join

Adelaide makes jokes about the Torrens, really. It's honestly as green as the trees around it in places XD;;;; And we have fountains that look like burst water mains >>;
Rest of the city's gorgeous tho =3

I'd rather swim in a vat of treacle than the Swan. If you stand next to it and look down, it's pure brown sludge. That would be the lovely thick mud (among other things) at the bottom, which feels like brains to walk in.
Well, feels like I imagine brains would feel like to walk in ;)
BUT from a distance, and especially looking across the Swan at the central Perth skyline, it reflects our beautiful, beautiful blue sky instead of all the yucky mud, and it becomes miraculously gorgeous :D

I was *ahem* breaking rules of that sort at Glacier, though just with the little beggars (chipmunks, etc). My mom wanted to feed the hoary marmot too, but that was getting a little on the big side.
Oh, yes, the poem is John Masefield's 'Sea Fever.' I do like that one very much, even though I'm a landlubber. You can read it all here, if you'd like.
Thanks for sharing, and I'm glad you had a great time, even though it stirred up your homesickness. =(

I swear I would completely lose the plot if I ever saw a chipmunk in the flesh and, er, fur. I was bad enough for my first meeting with squirrels ("EEE EEE EEE THE TAILS REALLY -ARE- FUZZY EEE EEE", etc.). I've been dying to see a chipmunk ever since I was five and I loved Chip and Dale ;D
I do love quokkas, too. The temptation was strong to put one in my backpack. I mean, there was plenty of room if I took my towel out. I just don't think it would've made it through customs O;)

Chipmunks and ground squirrels are still special and I love feeding the cheeky beggars. Though having one of them practically run up my leg at Glacier because I didn't have any food at the time was a trifle unnerving. As well as the 'sit beside me on the bench and rob my lunch' stunt. I daresay that's what Copper and Nuan will come back as. ;D

And it sounds like you had a fabulous time, my dear! I am so not jealous, no, not at all *hides green eyes* You saw Franz! Ack, I really need to go see some live music, it's been ages *sigh*
The quokkas sound adorable ^_^ And, like Joelle, I take squirrels for granted - we had them at school. I'd be looking out of the window (which I did surprisingly often) and watch the little critters scamper across the paddock and up a tree. Unless they're red. Then I pay attention.
Gorgeous cave photos - gotta love that cavernous feel... when there's lights about anyway ;)

Franz Ferdinand were great! The concert was a wee bit pricey (not that I paid for the ticket!), so I was a bit worried what with some of the lamer acts early in the day, but after seeing those guys I would've paid the money myself just for their stage time alone :D They're from your country, aren't they? Go forth and enjoy!
I'm about to put a quokka picture up now, as a matter of fact. ;) And ooh, I'm so madly jealous of countries with squirrels. They're adorable! I am sort of getting the feeling that everyone looks on them the same way as we look on rude Aussie gulls, though ...

I've never seen sea like that. It sounds glorious.
I got to sneak through a room cross-beamed with security lasers :D
I just had a vivid mental image of Nuan trying that. ;)
It sounds like an utterly wonderful holiday. I'm looking forward to the pictures. Feed my sea fever, please ^_^
