From
eddyfate's LJ:
b_daniels forwarded this to me from the local Cincinnati Camarilla list.
"This morning Drew and Ifer Biddle were in a car accident on their way to work. Both are in the hospital right now. I have very few details other than that. I know Ifer has a possible broken leg and arm and Drew has a possible ruptured spleen and broken ribs. Ifer was taken to St. Luke West and Drew was transported elsewhere."
For those who don't know, Drew and Ifer were my roommates for the last year or so that we lived in Florence, KY. They started dating at me and
greebotrill's wedding. I'll post more as soon as I know more, including details on any help that can be provided (if it is needed). My heart and thoughts are with them both.
Update 9:45am CST: Apparently they were T-boned somewhere in northern Kentucky. We're not sure what side got hit, but initial reports are that Drew got it much worse than Ifer.
Update 10:05am CST: Got a call from
b_daniels. The details I have are these:
Ifer was driving Drew into work in the rain when a car slid into them, impacting on the driver's side. Ifer had to be cut out from the vehicle. Her arm is definitely broken, and there's something wrong with her leg, but the doctors expect her to be released this afternoon and transferred to UC, where Drew is. Drew had his spleen punctured (not ruptured) and his ribs are cracked. He will definitely need surgery, and should be out from that this afternoon. The Cincinnati domain will be meeting up at UC and calling people once the surgery is over. The doctors expect no complications in either case, and both should make a full recovery. Neither of their kids were in the car when it happened. They are fully insured (both medical and vehicle), so financially they should be fine.
***My notes--
Ifer and Drew are two of my best friends. Drew started a new job on Monday.
My thought are with them, with their kids and with their family (including a lot of you)
I spoke with Ifer about 10:30am. They have her on pain meds, in a soft cast on her arm and are trying to figure out exactly how bad the injuries to her leg are.
I am heading up to the area as soon as I can.
Update:12:47pm EDT
Ifer is getting her marching orders from the hospital. As soon as she is allowed to leave, she will be headed up to UC to see Drew. Drew has *not* been taken into surgery. The bleeding in his spleen has stopped/slowed. He is dealing with broken ribs, bruised intestines and a potentially bruised arota. The docs are keeping an eye on him, and he is being kept on the surgery ward. He is there for at least another day. Once I have details, I will find out about where to send flowers and the likes (as I have been asked on such).
At this point I will be leaving ATL to head to them on Friday afternoon, as I am required to work Thursday and Friday here in town.
If you folks want to contact me about an address to send anything, please do so off LJ.
Also, I am going to note, the kids were not in the car. I know people were asking. They had already been dropped off when this occurred.

Update 2:57pm EST
I just got off the phone with Ifer, she is at UC with Drew. He is in Surgical ICU, and will be at least through the morning. She is dealing with a bruised chest wall as well as her other injuries.
Drew will be having a CAT scan in the morning to check to see that his spleen and kidneys have stopped bleeding. They will go from there, based on what they seen He does have bruised intestines, and a clot on his aorta. Broken ribs, as well as the spleen and kidneys bleeding.
I will post as I get more in updates.

I just returned home from the Hospital.
Ifer has a Broken left arm and right leg. She is going to see the Ortho on
Thursday to have the bones set.
Drew is and will be in the SICU at UC for some time now. He currently is
bleeding internally and they are waiting to see if that will cease. He has
a punctured spleen, kidney, and aorta. He has broken ribs on both sides and
bruised intestines.
A fund is being set up for them to help with expenses and such. I will send
more information when I have it.
Please continue to keep them in your thought and prayers.
As for the accident, it happened around 7am this morning on KY 18 in
Burlington, KY. A 17 year old female came out of her apartment complex and
slammed into a truck, which in turn hit the Cavalier. The children had just
been dropped off at the sitters. The vehicle will be totaled. The
dashboard exploded, the airbags exploded, the rear seat crumpled from the
impact. Ifer was cut out of the car after Drew was removed. They were then
taken to the Hospital.
They are at University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH.

More updates as I get them. I am hoping to chat with Ifer if she is up to it tonight.

Update 9:30pm EST
From
b_daniels (

Okay most anyone on this friends list is already aware that Drew and Iffer Biddle were in a nasty car crash today. Please refer to either ladyleo or eddyfate's journal for more details from the day. This is simply to update everyone of my recent visit to Drew in the hospital so I don't call you all late at night.
I spent about 5 minutes with Drew this evening in his room. We had limited time and I did not want to hold up his family from seeing him. He was awake and responsive, he laughed and indicated his sister was an asshat. He expressed very little interest in his own wellbeing, and instead expressed interest in how we were doing of all things. So his spirits seemed positive.
If your imagination is anything like mine, let me assure you he does not look as bad as you're thinking. Beneath the blankets and all I'm sure it looks like a marker box exploded on him, but sitting in bed he has a scrape on his forehead and beyond that he just looks exhausted. He did not seem to be in pain though he did complain about not being able to eat and requested donughts.
Iffer had already gone home, but the family said she was due for her casts on thursday morning. Arrangements are coming together quickly to care for their children, and those of us within arm's reachs are working out schedules to come and care for them.
I did get a bit choked up seeing the wookie laid out like that, and it still gets to me now. But as scary as it is looking at him made it clear that he's okay. If his scans in the morning continue on the same positive path as todays, we were told they'd probably move him out of the surgery ward and into a less exciting ward tomorrow afternoon. At this time he has avoided surgery since he was helpful enough to stop bleeding quickly.
I'll post their address at the bottom here, folks had asked about sending flowers and all. Tomorrow is a late night in the office for me but I'll be hounding both of them down on thursday to check them out.
I stressed to him twice just how many people, how many of you, were pulling for him and wishing him well and I knew it made his night. He does know you're thinking about him, and given how many calls have been made to his house I'm equally sure Iffer knows too.
** note from Nikki I have removed their address. If folks want to send them flowers and stuff, ping me for an address.**
More updates as they come.
