Really nice to see someone else rating Heat, Collateral and The Black Dahlia! I couldn't understand why Jamie Foxx didn't get his Oscar for his role in the second of these . . . or why he was listed as Supporting Actor for it!
As for The Black Dahlia, my wife and I put off watching it because of the critical evisceration it had received -- not just in publishedmedia but from usually reliable friends. After we'd seen the movie we just stared at each other with open mouths: "Why the hell did people so dislike this pretty damn' fine movie?"

The critics' opinions on "The Black Dahlia" is another reminder for me to never listen to them and form my own opinions of movies.
