hey,
it was cool to read about the film from the perspective of someone who hasn't read the books. all the other reviews i've read are comparative; makes it hard to judge the movie *as a movie* instead of a book adaptation. thanks for posting!

Thanks. Mind you, I did read a synopsis of the novel and was tempted to read it. But I had decided to wait until I had saw the movie. I have noticed over the past few years that many literary fans of novels tend to overreact to movie adaptations . . . especially if the movie is not an exact adaptation of the book.

Great review, I really enjoyed reading it.

I especially like how you accepted it's flaws but didn't rubbish the whole film because of it. I have read so many in the last few days/week that put it down completely because of it's imperfections. I am a fan of the books and I have to say I really enjoyed and to me that's what counts.

Thank you. I'm glad that you enjoyed the review. I guess I try to see both the positive and negative of any movie, TV show, etc. There are some movies I have reviewed that I basically dislike. But I try (emphasis on the word) to point out their positive attributes, as well.
