I need to read this series. How have I missed it?
It is quite timely given Afghanistan and its role in
current history.
I feel Lewis could bring it off beautifully......look at
what he did in Gangs of NY....
He becomes his character like few other actors can do.
Thanks for posting this.

Personally you best actor is without a doubt Hugh Jackman, It would be easy to tweek the age just a little and an actor of Hugh's caliber and there not many would certainly have no problem whatsoever in being completely convincing and what a role for him. The other actors you have selected are very good but not the multi talents that Hugh has at his finger tips.

The other actors mentioned may not be as "multi-talented" as Jackman, but I do believe that they are as talented as he is, as actors. And I still have a problem with Jackman portraying a rogue. I've seen him play one . . . and I just wasn't that impressed.

Hello again - I am under the impression that I have seen all of Hugh's films but Hugh playing a rogue I do not think I have seen unless you are referring to Deception which unfortunately for Hugh was a terrible story line, lousy script and wearisome support. So if that is the case then I agree I have not seen him play the rogue on the screen either. But having seen him on the stage I am more than certain particularly with his handsome looks playing the rogue would be a great experience for us all and the period costume he would certainly use it to full advantage. But we shall see, my friend we shall see.........

I doubt if any of us would ever see Hugh Jackman portray Harry Flashman. I suspect they would probably go with someone younger than him. And I am aware of how badly written "DECEPTION" was. But I still was not impressed by his performance as a rake. Regardless of how the movie was written, I found it difficult to accept Jackman as an upper-class rake. His performance just didn't feel right. Whereas I cannot say the same for Ewan McGregor's performance as a mild-mannered man. He managed to portray that very well.
