I have long been a proponent of the theory that when a LOST character learns their life's lesson, that they are "released" from the Island (that is, by dying, in most cases). The Oceanic Six's escape (and also Walt and Michael's escape, but I'll focus on the O6 for now) represents a direct challenge to that concept, and it is no surprise that as a result, the Oceanic Six are made up of the people who have learned the least about themselves while on the Island, and, in some cases, even backsliding in moral development - the worst offenders being Jack, Kate and Sun.
At any rate, the point of that was the long reason as to why I agree with you - the Oceanic Six are made up of the most morally degraded LOST characters, so it doesn't surprise me at all that they would come up with such a lie. It's what they're good at, and I wouldn't expect any better of them.
very well written. so many great points...and to tell you the truth, i didnt really think about the moral aftermath of the decision about aaron. perhaps, i am just not so perceptive..or maybe i was used to the lying by now. i do not, however hold hurley as accountable as the rest of them...mainly because he doesn't really have a bad bone in his body.
That is what she had told Diane . . . and the latter called her on her crap. In fact, the show confirmed in an earlier episode called "What Kate Did" that Kate had killed Wayne because she discovered that he was her real father and she couldn't deal with that. Because she believed it made her less worthy in the eyes of others.
Kate killed Wayne due to her own insecurities. She wasn't even thinking of her mother.

Not at all. They got Sun to LA, they could easily get Aaron to LA (hell, being as they slipped Carole Littleton in there, it would have been quite easy actually).

Being as we're dealing with a group of people (that is, the Oceanic Six) who have a laundry list of crimes and misdemeanors between them, including but not limited to murder, manslaughter, fraud, torture and perjury, plus Ben who will do absolutely anything for the island, somehow I don't think kidnapping would be an issue for them.
