Every one of the people I've talked to about Speed Racer has thoroughly enjoyed it. That might just be because we're pretty much of the same mindset, but it really makes you wonder who are the people who write these reviews.
My friend dragged me to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall which received excellent reviews, and I wanted to die throughout the entire movie. Needless to say I'm barely going to give two shakes to the film critics again.

However, I think one reason fans blast Lucas is because they feel he's 'messing with their memories'. Both Indy and Star Wars were huge. People remember what they were doing when those films came out. Spielberg has escaped the hit list because it always seems that Lucas is the one out front defending his decisions. He has every right to. They're his creations. If he pandered to the fans' every whim he'd be making crap.
While I didn't like Crystal Skull as much as I wanted to, I still enjoyed the movie. Funny though, Temple is my favorite out of all of them. ^_^

<3's to yours too. It's amazing how borg and androids make great comic foils. ^_^

I loved Iron Man--I thought it was exceptional as comic movies go and the casting of RDJ was inspired but it was actually my sister who first made me realize that the sequel's going to be so much better because they'll be able to take the plot (hopefully) somewhere original. Incredibly good for an origin story, I believe was her comment, and that's dead-on to me.
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull--what more can I say about it? I loved it to pieces; I think it was an amazing movie, not just a really good sequel. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your comments on the Indy franchise as I've felt that way for years and have been generally unable to express it (I'm a noncontroversial person and usually like to avoid debate because, well, I like what ( ... )

It's good to hear that the sequel to IRON-MAN might be better. Like I said, I thought it was a first-class movie. I even saw it twice. But I also realized that aside from the inspired casting of RDJ, it was not that original in style or story. But if what you say is true, then the sequel might prove to be a little more original in style.
"And, on the subject of Lucas bashing--isn't it funny how he's being blamed for the appearance of aliens in the movie when it seems straight from Close Encounters? To the point of fact that we're told that they're "intra-dimensional.""You know what? CLOSE ENCOUNTERS did come to mind when I saw the alien and the spaceship for the ( ... )

I also loved Speed Racer very much and glad that the words "kiddie film" and "live-action animation" don't scare me away. I may love animation, but I believe the movie can be loved in it's own right regardless.
Thank you for writing this and thank you for making a claim on my blog crew!
