Stiles is the most instinctive not-werewolf EVER.

So, I'm rewatching Teen Wolf (aka doing my Women's Lit take-home midterm), and seriously, Stiles is such a better werewolf than Scott, and he's not even a fucking werewolf. In the pilot episode, when Scott gets pissed and shoves Stiles against the wall and then knocks over his chair? Stiles lowers his eyes and looks away, and licks his lips ( Read more... )

You'd be surprised how many animals and humans instinctively do that when faced with something they know they can't really compete with. It's a pretty normal reaction.

I just find it really ironic, though, that Stiles is so instinctual compared to Scott. You could argue that Scott fighting his werwolf-ness negates his werewolf instincts, but he works in a vet's clinic. I know that I've got a lot of "animalistic" behaviors and habits, and that when I'm around horses I generally reflect their behaviors (dear god, riding spooky horses are the worst for me, because then I start spooking), so you would figure that Scott would pick up some behaviors, consciously or not, from the animals he's worked with. Or, at the very least, be able to demonstrate animalistic behaviors outside of wolfing out.

You would think. Perhaps because he's trying so hard to seem 'normal' and not like a werewolf, he's actually ended up conditioning himself out of those habits?

I'd give him credit for that, but he's been pretty oblivious the entire time, both before and after he definitely knew he was a werewolf. The only time we really see him using instinct is with the dog Allison hits, and then he's using his werewolf unconsciously. I think he's just...a bad werewolf.
