Good Job, Soundtrack

I've been marathoning Merlin, which is made of awesome (okay, except for where they went with Morgana's character). And most fan girls will tell you that the show is basically a big gay love-fest, almost to the point of canon. And you know what? Maybe everyone wouldn't seem like they're eye-fucking another person of the same sex if all the big, ( Read more... )

merlin, big gay love-fest, you're not being subtle

I dropped out of Merlin after s1. It basically ended on the right note for there and I didn't want all the rest of Arthurian legend to ruin it for me. >D

I can totally understand that. A friend of my stopped watching during the third season because she felt like Arthur had completely back-tracked in his relationship with Merlin, as far as treating him well. I actually like how they've incorporated both the Lady of the Lake as well as Excalibur being stuck in a stone.

(Did you know that Lancelot wasn't in the original legend? Because I find it fascinating that a French translator decided to spice up the story, and now everyone knows his version instead.)

I've just started watching the first season, I'm really enjoying it so far.
And I couldn't agree more with you about Lancelot and Arthur goodbye!!
What happens to Morgana's character? it's too bad?

I expected her to go dark-side because of the legend, but they've pretty much turned her into the stereotypical Evil Witch. She spends a lot of time smirking behind people's backs (of course, in Merlin style, she does it out in the open where people should she her but don't), and the development of her character going from concerned to her friends to hating anything Camelot is really abrupt after a point. Like, they set up the reasons why she would betray her friends and family, but they don't follow through and skip right to her being An Evil Person.

But if you can get past that, the show is really awesome, especially because while Merlin might not get recognition for his powers, he still has people that are loyal to Arthur because they are loyal to Merlin, which is a really awesome take on the legend. (Oh my god, wait until the third season when they introduce Gwaine. He and Merlin have a bromance to rival the one between Merlin and Arthur, and it is adorable.)

So far I think Morgana's character is boring, so even though that her evil side isn't too good it's probably better than no storyline at all, right?!

Aww I can't wait to meet Gwaine! I love bromances <3
