So this weekend I went to visit Heather and Jonathan who were just in town for a couple of days and staying with Jonathan’s family. I guess they had told his mom that I was a knitter because when I arrived she handed me a shawl and told me that it was knit by Stephanie Purl-McPhee. I think it was just a garter stitch shawl with fringe made of veriegated mohair. I don't recall seeing it on the blog but I'll let you know if I do as I make my way through the archives.

So sorry- I responsed to your question about the baby socks and then it was gone- so I wanted to give you this:
I also have had similar experiences with babies and socks- I used this pattern and used whatever sock yarn I had lying around. I used size 1 or 2 needles and the luck of the gauge ended up sizing the socks for me. The thing I learned is that there really is no 'wrong size' for baby socks- I ended up making two or three quick pairs photo here, all ended up in different sizes, and eventually they will all fit the baby!
