I imagine he was much less fun to be around for those 40 days, yes.

I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for taking the time to read and review.

Lovely! A really lovely piece. I can definitely see James giving up quotations for 40 days! ^_^

It seemed like a Jamesish thing to do in so many ways. I'm glad it rings true for you.

Thank you for taking the time to read and review.

What a great idea, and lovely to read - thank you.

I think, for James, not being able to quote would be like having one hand tied behind his back!

I imagine he felt a little off kilter the entire time, but when one makes a Lenten decision, one keeps it. Or at least one keeps it if one is James. :)

Thank you for reading and reviewing! I'm glad you liked it.

This is LOVELY. I think you've captured James's brain very well. I don't think he's ever showing off when he throws out his quotes - it's just the way his mind works. Brava!

It is just the way his mind works. I think he's overstating it when he says it's a source of superiority, but then James does tend to be a bit hard on himself at times. You may have noticed. :)

I'm glad you liked it and I appreciate the review!
