I seriously don't know what to do about Shoebox still, since neither dorkorific nor I have heard back from livejournal's team in the past week, since we submitted our requests to LJ abuse. I feel awful about the situation--I've been informed that the hacker is still posting to the community with Rave's journal--but I don't know what else to do ( Read more... )

I'm so sorry that you have to go through all this, and that some jackass is putting you through misery. Do you still have a copy of Shoebox?

Luckily a few folks have offered to update us with files of the text and pictures, so we're very lucky on that count, despite the fact that the comments are probably lost. I just wish we could have access to the comm again so the hackers would not keep linking readers who might not know about the situation to harmful sites.

I'm not sure if this is any sort of relief, but I've clicked on all the sites and I have had no issues whatsoever.

I use Firefox, perhaps that's why?

Once LJ gets off their lazy asses, things will be much better, don't worry.

please don't be miserable! it will all be okay, and it's completely not your fault, and you've done everything you can do. it's just the hacker and livejournal who are being ridiculous.

Thank you so much. I just wish I had some way of warning people. I'm grateful as always for cult_sbp for being so incredible.

I know for a fact that cult_sbp is updating both to warn people of the hack and give computer advice to people who did click on the link. Most people on the internet nowadays are running firewalls and anti-spyware programs, and it doesn't look like the website does anything completely fatal to a computer.

This is the third major hack I've heard about recently (although one of the others was a malicious individual and not a random Russian bastard). What gives? My hugs and sympathy, anyways, to you and especially to Rave; no-one should ever have to deal with this sort of weird awkward internet-rape.

I'm so grateful to everyone in cult_sbp right now for everything they're doing, I don't know how quite to express it. It means so much to me. I can't believe there have been so many instances of hacking.

The thing is, people who *do* hack seem to treat it as the virtual equivalent of TP-ing someone's house, when in fact it's more like BURNING THE HOUSE DOWN and then doing an EVIL VICTORY DANCE on the ashes. And then performing a dramatic reading of shitty Russian poetry.

I love the internet, but it somehow doesn't seem to cultivate good manners, on the whole.

hahaha, that is the BEST analogy ever.
but yes, they don't seem to realize the damage they're doing.. or maybe they do, and that's the point.
whatever the question... we love you guys and it's not your fault! hang in there!

I know it's frustrating as regards the LJ side, but remember- the fans got the word out. I highly doubt anyone is clicking on the links after the first rush of confusion. *hugs you*

Thank you so much. It means a lot to me that everyone is being so incredibly awesome about all this, and that so many have done so much to help. Thanks. ♥
