Film Rec - The King's Speech

Yesterday I went to see a brilliant film which I can't recommend highly enough.  If you get the chance to see "The King's Speech", take it - this film is a masterpiece.  Colin Firth deserves an Oscar for his role as King George VI and his battle with a speech impediment.  IMO he should have got one for "A Single Man" and if he doesn't get one this

This is one of the few movies that might make me venture into an actual theatre! David Seidler, the scriptwriter, was interviewed on our CBC radio show 'Q' the other day and listening to his story made me want to see the film even more. I saw it and loved it. Though period pieces aren't usually my movies of choice.

Everyone I know who has seen TKS loves it - I hope it gets the recognition it deserves at the Oscars.

It was a lovely film, wasn't it? I expected Colin Firth to shine but Geoffrey Rush was superb as well. The whole cast was great! Saw Love and Other Drugs yesterday. It was enjoyable but not close to caliber of King's Speech

You're right, Geoffrey Rush was superb as Logue. TKS is in a class of its own!
