A word of advice though on the countertops. Do NOT get Corian or any of those similar types. I know someone who had it and it discolored next to her stove top (it's not supposed to). My brother also had trouble with it.
We went with Silestone, which is a composite with resins and stone, and I'm glad we did. We have a white countertop and I wipe off beets, coffee, tea, rust stains from cans, etc without a permanent stain. There's one small scratch after about 4 years, but it's not noticable and it's there only because my dad, who is VERY heavy handed with his knives, cut through a paper plate when cutting something.
