Rose Under Fire is coming out soon? YESSSSSS.

(Which connects with the article about satisfying plot resolutions: the resolution of CNV totally gutted me, but it was the right ending, and therefore satisfying for all that it was tortuous.)

And I agree with that article about Snape so much. He's an interesting character, and I can see why some people love him and his complexity (although I never did: he's just so mean) - but making him a pitiful martyr just takes away all the complexity that makes him so interesting in the first place!

Also, I'm pretty sure Snape would loathe being pitied.

As far as I can tell, it has a June UK publication date and a September US one.

You're right, CNV is definitely in the category of satisfying endings which aren't all "happily ever after". It'd be dishonest to the characters and what happened to them if it had been a happier ending, but there's also enough hope that the surviving characters will be okay - because they're not alone and can find comfort in that. And perhaps because it's a very open ending, you can imagine the characters' futures however you wish...

(Which is the only thing I'm nervous about, regarding Rose Under Fire, that it'll tell me too much about what happens to CNV characters afterwards.)
