Lix Storm: If it all gets really too much, I say we take the next train to Morocco. Apparently it's the most marvellous place to get lost.

I like retellings. I wasn't going to watch Elementary, the modern retelling of Sherlock Holmes set in New York, not because I thought it was ripping off the BBC's Sherlock but ( Read more... )

I've also been watching Elementary, and I agree, it does a good job distinguishing itself from Sherlock and a not-so-good job distinguishing itself from Castle.

Admittedly, I have a pro-Castle bias: I think it's funnier, snappier, and takes itself less seriously than Elementary. But Castle did take some time to find its feet - I spent the first five? ten? episodes hating the way that Castle treated Becket - so I'm willing to extend a few more episodes of leniency toward Elementary, too.

Also, yes on all your thoughts about LBD: I totally agree that Lydia is way more insecure than Lizzie seems to notice. (Also, how much did I enjoy Jane pretending to be Lydia? Thiiiiiiis much.)

I prefer Castle, too; it's much funnier. And it has Alexis!

But as I haven't seen Castle recently (my Castle watching family members have been too busy), I'm not as bothered by the comparisons as I might otherwise be.

I like that Jane takes Lydia seriously, by impersonated Lydia as she thinks Lydia wants to be impersonated. It shows she's paid attention to how Lydia acts on Lizzie's vlogs.

Yes, Alexis! Alexis is one of my favorite characters on Castle.
