I'm currently sitting in casualty trying not to feel scared. I have either a detached retina or a hole in my retina, not sure which as the optician used both terms. Had it since Friday, which she was not pleased about. I'm not sure of the outcome but she did say that I'd have to lie flat only stomach for a whole week, which is scary as I live on my ( Read more... )

Bloody hell, that's ... well I'm not surprised you're scared, anybody would be! Well you're in the right place now, and I hope you get well taken care of and that they can sort you out. Don't rush to update, obviously, but let us know when you can.

A friend of mine had something similar a few months ago - he only found out when he suddenly started seeing double - while driving. On the North Circular. (they fixed his retina and he's fine now. They have the technology! And they will fix you too {{hugs you}})

Do you have anyone geographically not too far away who can lend a hand, run errands?

Oh no! That's awful! How scary for you! At least they've spotted it now though, and are taking swift action.

I am sending all the positive vibes I can. *hugs*. Hang in there, S. ♥

That is really scary. Yes, you're in the right place, yes, they can fix it - but it's still really scary. I was away on business once and had a huge gap in my vision - just a black hole - and that was only a narrowing of the optic nerve due to a fever, so it repaired itself. And that was bloody terrifying, so I really sympathise with you.

I do hope all goes well and that you are able to do more than just lie flat on your stomach for a week. I know what you mean about not wanting to disturb your daughter, but you just might have to, this time. There's holidays, and then there's necessity. Huge hugs and best wishes.

Ugh! I am so sorry to hear that. Anything to do with eyes is scary, I think, because we rely on being able to see. All the best to you.

By now, I hope you have seen someone, and are not still sitting waiting. I hope the news is good. In the meantime, good vibes duly, erm, vibing (?) their way to you.
