This is the first fic I've posted in ages, so I'm pretty excited.
Fandom: Doctor Who/ Torchwood
Title: Just One of Those Things
Pairing: Captain Jack/Algy
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Spoilers for The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances and The Parting of the Ways

Torchwood was quiet late at night. )

Oh! OH!!!!

You wrote Biggles fic. *does the happy dance*

And in the Biggles film Algy was played by Michael Siberry and I was in love with him in the 1980's when I saw him play Nicholas Nickleby at Stratford and Oh again.

Love it to death. Just going off to pimp it by e-mail if that's OK.

Oh dear. I have no idea what I just did. Did I inadvertantly give Algy someone else's name? I'm glad it made you happy, but it wasn't supposed to be a reference to anything. *facepalm*

By all means pimp it, but perhaps I should know what I've done first? *g*

Perhaps I've got it wrong. I just assumed that Algy was an allusion to Biggles (it was Siberry what made me do it!) - wasn't the Empty Child Algy a nod in that direction? (See Biggles at wikipedia for explanation.)

Anyway, even if it's accidental it has turned out splendidly; that extra levvel, even if it only exists in my brain, has made my day. Totally.

And I've pimped it to various mad gals so if you get odd comments, blame me entirely.

Oh, okay. I had never heard of Biggles before, but it all makes much more sense now. Thanks for educating me- apparently there are Biggles references everywhere!
And I'm very glad it amused you. =)

Yes, the obligatory tea reference. *huge grin* Honestly, what would scifi be without tea?

Yay, I'm so happy you liked it! Jack is loads of fun to write. I wanted Jack/Algy fic as soon as I saw them together, but there doesn't seem to be any. So I had to write it myself. *spreads the Algy love*

Algy is ginger!posh!love
That's totally begging for an icon! Except that people might think we're talking about the Spice Girls and be confused. ;)

Oh, fantastic! I'm pathetically obsessed with Jack/Ianto but Jack/Algy is really sweet. The last paragraph is brilliant!

Thanks! The coffee line was meant to be a shout-out to all the Jack/Ianto fans. =)
And I'm glad the last paragraph worked for you- I was trying to capture the transformation that Jack undergoes between Doctor Who and Torchwood.

Oh, that's wonderful. I do miss slutty!SeriesOne!Jack.

Tea reference = <3. Seriously, I think what the world would be a much better place if there were more civilised, tea-loving people. Maybe that's because I'm a Chinese Anglophile. *g*

Maybe it was better, nobler, to work for the good of humanity and defend the planet, but it was sure as hell less fun.

I really loved this bit :D

And I totally agree about the tea. Tea is the best. =)
It's great to know what specific lines people like! Thanks!

Oh I squee in a very teenage way although totally old enough to know better... Remembering my manners - Gatecrashing because mylodon sent me here and I obeyed *g*
Wonderful, vivid piece. I enjoyed it very much.

"Tea first. Then sex."

"God, you're such an Englishman. I'll take coffee, if you've got any." Jack called down the hall, since by this time Algy had grabbed a robe and left the room in search of tea.

The beverage that has sustained my homeland through many crisis and which sustains me through the dreadful 5am wakeup most mornings. *g*
I hope you don't mind me dropping in uninvited, but I did so enjoy this :-) Bravo!

You're never too old to squee! And I'm glad you liked the story.

Tea is indeed wonderful. I don't have to get up at 5am *cringe* but I always have to have my cup of tea in the morning.

Dropping in is quite all right! Thanks for commenting! =)

That is true, I will squee again! To read was a lovely moment of calm in a mad week.

I'm not much of a coffee person, although I do have the occasional cup of proper coffee. Tea on the other hand I drink gallons of. I normally have two buckets of tea before I go to work, it has a humanising effect on me at that time of the morning *g*

To read was a lovely moment of calm in a mad week. Oh dear! Well, tomorrow is Friday.

Yeah, I'm the same with regard to tea and coffee. Coffee is nice, but I can't live without tea. *g*

Mind if I friend you? If you're a friend of mylodon's then you must be nice, and it sounds like we have similar interests. =)
