NaNoWriMo updates

I've won NaNoWriMo. Well, words-wise. Just doing some fine-tuning right now and I might be uploading some chapters to Wattpad and whatnot. Someone at my horseback riding told me about Wattpad and I figured that I should at least give it a shot. Dip my toes in the water. It's a pain so far, but it's interesting nonetheless and cool. Hopefully I can ( Read more... )

w00000000tttttt!! Good for you, that's fantastic!

How interesting that you mentioned Wattpad - I just spent time there yesterday to see what was going on. Do you have an opinion as yet as to the site?

Horseback riding was a treat from a long time ago - Eldest Sister owned horses for over 30 years before finally quitting and I would ride them. She was always the more expert at it, though. It's surprisingly efficient exercise and lovely for the back and legs.

Thanks! Also, I got it. I finally finished. I think the only thing I have to do now is do some revision. Maybe chapter by chapter, honestly. I mean, I don't think I can really revise a manuscript all in one sitting.

In terms of Wattpad -- well, it's interesting but I think that there are definitely some things that could be improved. A lot of stuff, actually. For example, the matter of posting stories.

And yeah, it really is awesome. For the exercise and for the camaraderie you feel. And that's really cool about your older sister! Seriously. :)

Yes, it was fun to be peripherally around the 'horse set.' She began with quarter horses, then progressed to Tennessee walkers and got a pony for my nephew, and when she bought Arabians and Appaloosas the stable became very colorful. Right before she quit, she said that she was thinking of getting a Missouri mule because their gait is quite smooth and she was getting older. What sort do you ride?

Wattpad isn't such a great site to use for posting stories. It's a hassle, for sure.

How much of a hassle, specifically?

After I pasted the bulk of my text in, I had to go back through and re-format the whole thing. I went through a few paragraphs and decided it wasn't worth it. Pain in the a**.

That sounds frustrating. Sorry you went through that.

Congratulations! :D

I've never used Wattpad, so I'm interested to see how it goes.

Thanks!

So far, it's been a bit of a hassle, but getting up the first chapter was worth it. I've also been using James Scott Bell's book on revision in order to get things together, trading out a pretty slow Villain Opening Scene for a more tense one. I'm thinking once I get the hang of Wattpad's sharing stuff I may share it here.
