You know the first time I saw the ep I thought it was cute but I wasn't all that impressed. I just watched it a couple of weeks ago again and enjoyed it a lot more.
LOL, I almost feel like I've been watching with you guys and not alone.
i heard from somewhere (probably from mark reads) that the absorbaloff was the winner of a competition for kids to design a dr who monster. so unless the kid knew who ian levine was, that might be a startling coincidence.
Very well-said! :D I think what you described, about the whole "what happens to the people around him"...that was definitely the selling point for me. :)
And yeah, this episode definitely Needs More Love, I think.
It's my least favorite episode, I'm afraid (I find "Fear Her", the other one people dislike a lot, far better) :[. For me, one of the biggest problems with it is that unlike "Blink", the other "Doctor & Companion-Lite" episode, all the characters except Elton and maybe Ursula are, IMO, too flat and one-dimensional. By the end of it, they've all essentially become "redshirts" (characters that are really just there to be picked off one by one by the monster or villain of the ep). I think whoever wrote it also tried to cram too much into it. IMO, it would have been a lot better to just focus on Elton, his interactions/relationships with Jackie & Ursula, and the emergence of what's-his-name as the Absorbaloff and eventual villain.
